Established to commemorate the sacrifice and valor of our local heroes, Post 353 continues its mission to serve veterans, active military members, their families, and the Louisville community.
Private Henry A. Newman, for whom our post is named, exemplified the courage and dedication of those who have served in defense of our nation. His legacy inspires our efforts to uphold the values of freedom, democracy, and service to others.
Our Post is a hub of activity, providing support through veteran services, youth program sponsorships, patriotic events, and community outreach. We are proud to honor the sacrifices of our military members while fostering a spirit of camaraderie among veterans and the community alike.

Founded in 1919, The American Legion Auxiliary has nearly 1 million members from all walks of life. The Auxiliary administers hundreds of volunteer programs, gives tens of thousands of hours to its communities and to veterans, and raises millions of dollars to support its own programs, as well as other worthwhile charities familiar to Americans. It is all accomplished with volunteers.
While originally organized to assist The American Legion, the Auxiliary has achieved its own unique identity while working side-by-side with the veterans who belong to The American Legion. Like the Legion, the Auxiliary’s interests have broadened to encompass the entire community.
The American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization. Through its nearly 10,500 units located in every state and some foreign countries, the Auxiliary embodies the spirit of America that has prevailed through war and peace. Along with The American Legion, it solidly stands behind America and her ideals.
The American Legion Riders (ALR) is a dedicated program within The American Legion, established in 1993 in Michigan by American Legion members Chuck "Tramp" Dare and Bill "Polka" Kaledas. The ALR was created to provide a platform for Legion members who share a passion for motorcycling to support the core values and mission of The American Legion.
The ALR is not a motorcycle club but a group of motorcycle enthusiasts united by their commitment to veterans, military families, and community service. Members are required to hold membership in The American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, or The Sons of The American Legion, ensuring a strong connection to the organization's core values.
Since its founding, the ALR has grown rapidly, with chapters established in all 50 states and several foreign countries. Membership is open to those who meet the eligibility requirements for The American Legion and have a love for motorcycling.
The American Legion Riders exemplify the principles of The American Legion by combining their enthusiasm for riding with their commitment to service, creating a vibrant and impactful community.
The Sons of The American Legion (SAL) was established in 1932 as a program of The American Legion, designed to honor the service and sacrifice of veterans by supporting their families and communities. Membership is open to male descendants, stepsons, and adopted sons of veterans who served honorably during eligible wartime periods.
The SAL is committed to advancing The American Legion’s four pillars: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth. Members engage in activities such as volunteering at VA hospitals, supporting youth programs, promoting patriotism, and fundraising for scholarships and veteran assistance.
With thousands of squadrons nationwide, the SAL exemplifies service, honor, and patriotism while working alongside The American Legion Family to strengthen communities and support those who have served.
