Membership FAQ
Why join the American Legion?
The American Legion is a community oriented service organization. At Post 353 we pride ourselves on both veteran and community outreach. We would love to have you get involved!
What are the eligibility requirements for becoming a Legion member?
If you are currently on active duty, serving the United States honorably, or have served honorably from Dec. 7, 1941 to the present, including the current war campaigns, you are eligible to become a member of The American Legion.
Thanks to the LEGION Act (Let Everyone Get Involved In Opportunities for National Service Act), Congress expanded the current eligibility period. Previously, there were seven declared war periods.
Now there are two, the current war period dating back to World War II and the original war era covering World War I.
How much does it cost to join?
Yearly membership dues are $50.
